We’ve all seen empty shops, abandoned garages, uninhabited places, and thought “what a shame, someone could do something fun there” There are those who makes empty spaces comes to life, so why can’t we do the same in Dorset? Let’s learn from them, discuss and make our spaces work. Everyone who books will be invited to join us for a World Cafe session and a meal.
At the World Cafe Session will spend some time having the conversations that matter, in a relaxed setting where everyone has the chance to have their say. Together we will chat about the kind of highstreet that lets us and our community thrive, what is out there already, what we’re inspired by and what we could do next
Who is speaking?
Jessica Tsang from Meanwhile Space
Meanwhile Space is a Community Interest Company (CIC) a social enterprise that finds temporary uses for disused spaces in London and Hasting. Meanwhile Space brings vacant assets into use for affordable and easy access space for startup enterprises, communities, and better places. By 2017, Meanwhile Space had supported over 600 people into space and created 229 jobs in predominantly deprived town centre neighbourhoods.
What is Culture³
Culture+ Creative Conversations is a platform to discuss, debate and challenge the status quo. To gain inspiration, spark collaborations and revolutionise the way we work in the arts and culture. At each event, held at various venues across the county, we invite a panel of interesting and experienced people to start the debate, and extend the discussion to us all.
This particular Culture³ is a collaboration between The Arts Development Company & Bournemouth Emerging Artists Festival (B.E.AF).
How to book
- Spaces are limited, only one place available per business
- If you book and find that you are unable to attend, please cancel your ticket as soon as possible and at least 48 hours prior to the workshop. This allows us to release the booking to others that are on a waiting list
This Culture+ workshop is specifically for artists and creative practitioners based in Dorset. Culture+ is funded by Arts Council England and the European Regional Development Fund. It is providing support for the creative industry strand of the Dorset Growth Hub programme lead by WSX Enterprise.
