What is it?

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) brings changes to the rules around how organisations collect and use personal data.

This Free course is a complete introduction to data protection and the GDPR, and an overview of the implications and legal requirements for organisations, including responding to individuals exercising their data rights, data protection impact assessments (DPIAs) and data breach reporting.

The course will look at the practical application of it in arts and cultural organisations in relation to volunteer management, evaluation, fundraising and marketing. We will look at the steps to take including data auditing, planning and management that needs to happen to fulfil the legal requirements.

At the end of the course there will be an open Q&A session with the speaker to discuss your specific situation.

People who manage and use personal data such as email addresses, home addresses, phone numbers etc for Dorset (including Bournemouth and Poole) based art organisations, centres, museums, heritage centres.

Who is speaking?

Mark Gracey from Dorset based Flavourfy Digital is an expert in Data protection and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliance, and privacy regulation compliance. Mark set up one of the UK’s first network abuse team which led to a fifteen year career in internet regulation dealing with everything from internet content liability to data protection and police liaison. Responsible for ensuring internal compliance and influencing external stakeholders he’s worked with the government and advised the House of Lords on internet policy matters as well as influencing the outcomes of a number of pieces of legislation, chairing the national ISP trade body, ISPA and sitting on the board of the Internet Watch Foundation.

Moderated by Jane Showell an experienced arts and culture digital marketer, who has worked and managed data for art centres, libraries, museums and arts project.
