Young people in Dorset need a single point of information to find out about arts opportunities. They also need affordable places to hang out and develop creative ideas. The activity should be paid for from a ‘young person pot’ of funds, says a new report.

Ideas, training and events

The report recommends that all young people in the area aged from 15 to 25 should be able to access a central Dorset young person funding pot. The money would be used to help realise ideas, put on events, go and see things or participate in training.

Cultural Education Challenge

The Arts Development Company and Wave Arts Education Agency have published the report following six months of research. It suggests the first steps towards achieving the Cultural Education Challenge (CEC) in Dorset, Bournemouth and Poole. The Arts Council launched the CEC two years ago as a call for arts, culture and education to work together for all children and young people.
