What is it?

A bespoke mental health awareness workshop designed for artists working with or wishing to work with young people experiencing mental health issues. Discover how to recognise signs of mental health in yourself and others as well as learn important steps to wellbeing and tips on how to facilitate a creative workshop. The training will involve case studies from young people attending an existing community based project and the range of issues they typically present with.

Who is it for?

This workshop is for Dorset, Bournemouth and Poole based artists, makers and creatives only. Those who have not yet received 12 hours of help from us will be prioritised.

Suitable for socially engaged artists/small arts organisations who make a living delivering community based arts workshops, particularly if interested in supporting young people overcome low level mental health issues.

What you will go away with

An increased awareness of common and severe mental health conditions, an understanding of the stress response and ways of coping, alongside soft skills such as active listening and using a strength based approach to support a young person.

If you attend this training session, there may be future paid opportunities (funding dependent) to deliver workshops to young people alongside Dorset Mind practitioners with potential to translate to working with adults and older people.
