Several people from Lyme Regis had experience running galleries and an art group membership but wanted to go-it-alone with their own gallery and organisation.

With the help of Culture+ workshops and 1-2-1 mentoring it was also identified that the group wanted to provide community-based art projects too and with further advice the group successfully setup a new not-for-profit social enterprise called Lyme Bay Arts Community Interest Company (CIC) in 2018.

Since then Culture+ have advised on company structure, business planning, marketing, digital engagement and personal development of key stakeholders.

Through the hard work of its directors, advisory board and support from Culture+, Lyme Bay Arts CIC opened its first public gallery at The Symondsbury Estate, Bridport, which is proving to be a great asset for the estate and the public, with a multitude of different artforms and mediums.

Now Lyme Bay Arts CIC is planning an exciting year ahead with many exhibitions, workshops, talks, community events and much more. Creating social and economic value for its own organisation and the wider Dorset landscape. Testament of how arts and culture sector contribute to the wellbeing and creative expression of Dorset.
