Funded by the Department of Work & Pensions we are again working in partnership with Job Centre+ work coaches to support 10 women who are unemployed or on low income on Universal Credit through our online team coaching programme.

Over 3 months (April – June 2021) TADC team coaches Rosie Russell and Kate Saunders motivate and inspire the participants to develop a creative mindset, recognise their own strengths and skills, and explore ways of making money including setting up their own enterprise.  They develop project management skills, and grow their finance, marketing and communication skills – whilst also having fun, growing in confidence and developing as a team – stronger together, as their own network.

This course is building foundations… surely you’re stronger when you go into work if you have these foundations.”

It’s only week three and we’ve all made progress. What more can you ask!

– Make It Happen Participants

This programme follows on from Make It Happen 1, which worked with unemployed women on Portland in 2020 (both in real life and virtually). The project was so successful that the Job Centre asked TADC to work with another cohort of women, this time from West Dorset.

The approach of this programme is learning by doing, surfacing creative solutions and taking brave individual steps – helping women recognise their worth, grow in confidence and find ways to make a living either employed or self-employed.

I wasn’t very confident in week one, I feel like I’m learning who I am before I start my business.

Having everyone at your back is a great way of creating better confidence for yourself because you start to see your own worth, within a network, which is great!
