Sandy Hill Arts, Corfe Castle

When Tony Viney moved to Dorset, he became the catalyst for a new creative community that continues to thrive today. Tony rented some studios in an old milk bottling plant, overlooking steam railway lines and breathtaking views of Corfe and its castle ruins. He later bought the site to protect it from development. The site has attracted artists and creatives from all over Dorset, and now attracts many visitors too.

To secure the legacy of this creative hub, Tony and his family formed the charity Sandy Hill Arts in February 2021, and it continues to support, promote and develop the creative arts in Purbeck.

It’s an inspirational space where art, creativity, performance, music, education, courses and communities come together to evolve and flourish. It’s home to over 18 artists and makers, and the Boilerhouse Gallery showcases resident artists’ work all year round.

Tony Viney sadly passed in February 2024, but his legacy will continue for years to come.
